I use a comprehensive approach to treat a variety of habits. I get to know each person and we work to understand together how a habit has served as a coping mechanism.
I find that habits are much easier to let go of if we understand and respect why they were picked up in the first place.
Throughout the process, I use cognitive and behavioral strategies to help people find other ways to soothe themselves.
